This week's round-up: Fly-tipping, dropped kerbs and storm drains

As is usual, following a week of ward surgeries, coffee mornings and walkabouts, we've had a mixed bag of issues to deal with in and around the villages of our ward. The following article includes details of just a few:

By far the main concerns of residents contacting us continue to be linked to litter, rubbish and fly-tipping and unfortunately this past week has proved to be no different.

We have reported four separate incidents of fly-tipping in Blackhall Colliery; two at Deneholme (please see post dated Tuesday 3 May for full details) and two in the rear yards of vacant rented properties in the village. All have now been reported for collection.

We have also received complaints from residents in Blackhall Colliery about drainage issues, and a possible connection with sewers and storm drains we reported some time ago, in the area around Park Avenue and West Street. We have asked the drainage engineer to take a look and let residents know of any potential problems.

Residents have also asked us to take a look at the possibility of installing dropped kerbs, and raised footpath surfaces, at the junction of Hesleden Road and Bluebell Close in Blackhall Colliery.

We know there are a significant number of disabled and older residents living in, and visiting, this particular residential area so we have asked the highway engineers to come out, take a look and see what can be done to help.

We have asked highway engineers to consider installing dropped kerbs at the junction leading to Bluebell Close
