Landslip works on A1086 between Blackhall and Horden

For some time now we have been posting monthly updates on progress with ongoing works to correct the landslip on the A1086 road connecting Blackhall Colliery with Horden.

Even when there is very little news to pass on we have continued to publish posts each month to ensure that people are kept fully informed of developments as they arise.

Below we have reproduced the latest update from the highways section at county hall. Although again there is little to report, it does seem that works are due to begin in the very near future.

We have continued for several months to press the council and its partners to make progress on these works but we do understand that the safety of pedestrians and road users must come first at all times. Thankfully, the majority of residents and road users acknowledge this and we are grateful for their patience.

Further to the update sent on 3rd June regarding the land slip adjacent to the Coast Road to the north of Blackhall I can report the following progress:
Our consultants submitted their final design early June and we are currently in the tender evaluation period.  Once we have awarded the works I will be in a position to confirm an actual start date and duration for the construction stage.  It is still the intention to commence on site during the summer and I will update you again at the end of July or earlier if possible.

As ever, if you have any queries or comments in relation to this matter please let us know in the usual way.
