We have received an update from the DCC highways engineers on drainage investigations at Rodridge Hall between Station Town and Hutton Henry. This is reproduced in full below:
The recurring
major highway flooding at Rodridge Hall has been investigated and it was found
that the highway drainage system had a number of collapses, major tree root
infestation, badly constructed connections and joints, buried manholes and an
outlet that was buried in a heavily silted watercourse. The affected length of
highway was in the order of 300m. Works are now complete and the highway system
is now operational.
Clearly we won't know until the next downpour how effective the highways works have been but we'll keep a close watch on progress.
