I have received a number of queries regarding ongoing roadworks on the A1086 which links Blackhall with Horden. The eastern side of the carriageway at the bottom of the bank is currently cordoned off and there are traffic control lights in place.
Whilst it would appear that there are no road works taking place, the road is cordoned off to move traffic onto the opposite side of the carriageway whilst works are carried out to a landslip in the dene. This is done for safety reasons, shifting the weight of the traffic away from workers in the dene area immediately below the road, and also to prevent a further landslip.
I am told that works are nearing completion and I will update on progress where necessary.
