Members
of the public are invited to join an expert geologist for a walk in Castle Eden
Dene on March 3.
The
walk, organised by the Limestone Landscape team who are hosted by Durham County
Council, will see expert geologist Eric Johnson lead an easy paced four mile
walk giving people a background on how the stunning natural beauty of the area
was formed. Eric will also explain how Durham used to have a Mediterranean
climate with warm waters that built the limestone that can be seen today.
People
wishing to attend are asked to meet at Castle Eden Dene’s visitor’s car park
off Stanhope Chase, Peterlee, SR8 1NJ. The walk is expected to last around
three hours.
