I
understand that the home, owned by HC-One, is reported to have been running
under capacity for some time and that an article to this effect appeared in the
Northern Echo earlier today. Clearly as the home is in private ownership any
proposed closure is beyond the control of Durham County Council but I do have
concerns over the future of staff and residents. I am also concerned at the
nature of the expected closure announcement in that it appeared in the local
press before I was informed of any potential problems.
I’ve
been made aware that officers from DCC are due to meet with residents and their
families along with staff at Ridgeway House tomorrow and I will post details of developments as they arise. In the meantime please let me
know if you require any further information in relation to this matter and I
will pass your concerns to the relevant department at county hall for their
immediate attention.
