Alan Cox gives the impression in this week's Peterlee Star that the travellers at Crimdon were moved on as a result of his intervention through the county council.
A constituent queried this sequence of events with me today and having checked with the manager of the Traveller's Liaison Service (TLS) at county hall I can confirm that the Encampment Review Group was established following contact from a member of the public on 31 May 2012 and not because of contact from Alan Cox as he asserts in The Star.
This is the latest in a long history of underhand tactics used by this individual and I intend to monitor his movements closely over the period leading up to the next election in 2013.
