Last month residents got in touch to tell me of their concerns about rumours of an HMO at Thornton Terrace.
There were two separate properties identified and after raising residents' concerns with relevant officers at the council they have told me there is no evidence of anyone opening an HMO in Thornton Terrace.
The owner of one of the properties identified has said they have no intention of operating an HMO and is of the opinion that any claims to the contrary are rumours and nothing else. The other property is owner-occupied.
In addition there has been no planning application received for change of use consent which would be required if an owner wanted to convert their property for use as an HMO housing more than 5 tenants.
It appears that the rumours in this instance were somewhat wide of the mark. However I’ll update in the event there are any developments.
My thanks go to the residents who took the time to raise this matter with me.
