Visiting the site of the new wardens' hut at Crimdon

Making the most of the fine weather today we took the opportunity make one of our regular visits to Crimdon Dene to see the progress made in relocating the hut used by the wardens.

Our timing was spot on and we were fortunate enough to come across Louise Harrington from the Durham Heritage Coast Partnership (DHCP) and Trevor Stephenson who were both on site supervising the construction of the new hut, and deciding which further improvements could be made as part of this current project.

The new hut is just part of a wider scheme devised by the DHCP to improve Crimdon Dene, along with the facilities used to monitor and protect the little terns when they make their seasonal visit to the Durham coast.

We will report on progress with this scheme, and others, in the near future but in the meantime we wish Trevor and the partnership every success with this latest development.
